A diamond's size is measured in carats, where one gram equals five carats. This measurement is used to describe the weight of the diamond.
Cut This refers to how well the diamond is shaped and polished. A good cut enhances how light reflects inside the diamond, giving it brilliance and sparkle. The better the cut, the more dazzling the diamond appears.
Color Diamonds are graded on a scale from colorless to light yellow or brown. The closer a diamond is to being completely colorless, the more valuable it is, as colorless diamonds allow more light to pass through.
Clarity This measures how clear the diamond is by evaluating any tiny imperfections or inclusions inside it. Diamonds with fewer or no flaws are rarer and more valuable.
Carat This is the measure of a diamond's weight. Larger diamonds generally cost more because they are rarer, but size isn't the only factor—quality matters too.

Lab-grown diamonds and natural diamonds are virtually identical when it comes to their physical appearance, especially after they've been cut. However, they differ significantly in their origin and cost. Natural diamonds are formed over billions of years deep within the Earths mantle. Intense heat and pressure cause carbon atoms to bond and crystallize, forming a diamond. This natural process takes an extraordinary amount of time, but it's what makes natural diamonds so unique.
In contrast, lab-grown diamonds are created much more quickly, in just a matter of weeks. Using advanced techniques such as Chemical Vapor Deposition (CVD) and High-Pressure High-Temperature (HPHT), laboratories replicate the same conditions that occur in nature to grow diamonds. Carbon-rich gas and extreme pressure are used in these methods, mimicking the natural formation process and resulting in a diamond with the same chemical composition.
Even though lab-grown diamonds are identical to natural diamonds in terms of appearance, hardness, and chemical structure, there is a key difference: their price. Lab-grown diamonds are typically much more affordable because they require less time to produce and don't involve the same mining processes.
When tested, both lab-grown and natural diamonds will be identified as real diamonds because their chemical makeup is the same. However, specialized equipment can differentiate between the two based on subtle differences in their formation process, making it possible to distinguish lab-grown diamonds from those that are naturally formed.
